Y9 #FilltheBoxChallenge #NationalWritingDay @FirstStory

Your voice is powerful. Use it on National Writing Day
and beyond.

Some examples of #FilltheBox Challenges from Year 9:

Fill the box:

I am confused, confused as to why the birds, bees and my favourite trees don’t fret like I do. They don’t worry about sitting stuck in the same place for months on end. The big oak tree doesn’t feel sick looking through my bedroom window in at me like I do looking out. I should like to be a tree, happily living in the sun and most certainly not feeling confused.

#FilltheBox Challenge

Covid has ruined so many innocent lives

Opened people to so many new things and people

No-one saw this virus coming

Never did people see Covid doing so much damage

Everyone has felt threatened by Covid

Constantly listening to the news to know the rules

Time – people getting impatient and wanting freedom

Initially people thought it would stay in China.

Outside it became sunny and restrictions were being lifted

NHS saving people’s lives and not getting enough support from the government.

Connection

C – Come closer to those you care for

O – one act of kindness forms attachment

N – not only family connections, but friends

N – never alone when you have connections

E – empathy supports connections

T – talking to others helps connections

I – It’s important to care for all

O – only one act of kindness in not enough

N – never be disappointed in yourself as connections and relationships can help you.

Outside/Inside

On the outside the sun was shining, high and bright,

On the inside my heart was beating hard and fast.

On the outside it was loud and cheery,

On the inside I was bored and sleepy.

Lost friend

A friend once passed, before a person I could talk to, trust, now just a stranger, a mystery man, like a hero masked and discreet. Once a loyal companion, now an unknown figure wandering the playground, he has revealed himself to the world from its online cave... its cave from the time we weren’t allowed to meet.
