Y8 Valentine's Poems

Teddy Bear

The teddy bears I’m surrounded by

The chocolates on the floor

The heart that rests on my chest  -

The other heart lays there no more

The teddy bears I’m enveloped in

Remind me of the pain

The gift of once having someone

The gift that was flushed down the drain

The teddy bear reminds me

Reminds me of the hurt

But at least it is here

and won’t treat me like dirt

The chocolates on the floor

Have been devoured in the rain

(Well, in the tears I’ve cried)

Again and again...

The heart by itself

Cannot be led astray

Like I was by you

Until you took your heart away

The other heart completed me

The other heart was always there

The other heart beside me.

Now, all near to me is a teddy bear

Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s comes once every year

To most, a time of cheer

Lovers soon to be wedded

But to others a day dreaded

Sad and alone with ten bottles of beer

Valentine’s is not for everyone

Could their partner have left and gone?

Or they weren’t lucky enough

Finding a partner was tough

Now they have given in and withdrawn

A Reminder of Me

Not a red rose or a satin heart.

I give you a phone.
It is a life sentence to our love.
It promises eternal texts and calls  like our endless conversations.

Here.
It will make you laugh, and it will make you cry

Like life.
It will bring us together when we are apart.

I am trying to be truthful.

I give you a phone.
Its ringtone will stay in your mind
happy and cheerful,
as we are,
for as long as we are.

Take it.
It'
s part of me
if you like.
Its vibration will remind you of me.

                                                                        This Year

This year you didn’t get me chocolates and red roses.

This year you were out with that blonde girl,

The one who always made me doubt who you wanted to be with.

Last year we were together,

This year we weren’t…

Last year we were watching movies around my house,

Eating ice cream,

And wrapping ourselves in blankets.

This year I did all that alone.

A Matchstick

Not a red rose or a satin heart,

I will give you a matchstick.

A small and fragile thing,

But when handled incorrectly,

It can have the most catastrophic effect.

Look.

It can cause pain and disruption,

Like a lover.

Yet its powerful dancing flames

Can be hypnotic to those who dare to look.

I am trying to be truthful,

Not a cute card or a kissogram.

I will give you a matchstick.

Its fierce bite can damage a person forever,

Dangerous yet beautiful

Just like love,

A small thing that can have a murderous outcome.

Back to my Arms

I give you a candle

It is a light in the darkness

It promises calmness and hope

like the glow inside our hearts

Here.

It will burn forever

Just like our love

It will make your heart glow within.

I am trying to be truthful

Not a raging fire of anger

I give you a peaceful glow

It’s a token of love that will stay burning in sync

With our love and forgiveness

as we are,

for as long as we are.

Take it.

It’s a piece of my heart

if you like.

Bringing us together when apart.

Its soft glow will guide you

Back to my arms.

‘The End’ By Hannah B

I give you a note

Telling you it’s the end

It promises closure

Like the door you’ll see behind

Here, it will tell you

That you need to go

And I hope you’ll finally listen

And not just come walking home

I am trying to be truthful

Not another one of my lies

I’ll give you a day

And you must promise you will stay –

away from my life

Take this,

It’s the key to your old place,

I knew that I’d soon need it

When I first saw your face

All my Love

I give you all my love

It’s a token of appreciation

It promises the will of love forever more

Like the never-ending Walmart store

Here.

It will make you happy and sad

Like a romance movie with an ending that’s good and bad.

It will make your day and make mine to carry out love and a bond that twines

I am trying to be truthful.

Not a lie in sight

I give you a kiss and a hug to hope that you’re alright

An Alternative Valentine's Poem

I met this Girl in France,

But once,

When I asked for I kiss,

She told me I felt like a fish,

Fortunately she let me stay,

And after that my legs started to sway,

With lockdown upon us,

I had to rush,

But with luck,

My life was done,

I asked the waiter,

If I didn’t need to social distance like on the board,

He must have been bored because,

He said it was pronounced,

"Sociàl Distancé!"

My love I told her on Valentine's,

I give you a ring,

Made from sweet, shiny, bling,

And it promises love,

Like the bright white dove from above,

For you are like no other,

And we are made for each other.
