First Story’s annual celebration of creative writing is on 23 June, 2021. 
Your voice is powerful. Use it on National Writing Day and beyond. 

This National Writing Day writers are challenged to #FilltheBox with a piece of creative writing – a poem, a letter, a story – using the theme of connection. Whether it’s in 280 Twitter characters or on a post-it sized piece of paper, there’s a space to write for everyone.

Connecting can be hard,

Or it can be easy.

Never stop trying to find them.

Never give up,

Even when you feel like all is lost.

Some find it hard to connect; others find it easy. Whatever it is for you, you need to try. Even if you feel like giving up, get back and try again. You will find that person eventually, and when you do, all will be solved.

To feel disconnected isn’t the best feeling, especially if you’re going through a hard time.

So if you feel disconnected, making new connections, like making new friends, is the best feeling ever.
