Year 9 Poetry inspired by poems read in class

Stand Off

At high noon,

I walked out of the saloon,

onto the deserted street

I saw him with his hand to his holster,

and as quick as a snake he shot,

again and again

Silver bullets pierced my heart.

As my body fell, he laughed,

just stood there and laughed and laughed.

Poem inspired by Carol Ann Duffy's poem 'Quickdraw'
