The Poetry Society has launched a new competition based on the theme 'Connectivity and the Universe'. Here is our first entry.
Moon Curtain
As nightfall came the last day of the month when everybody was
asleep (or so everybody thought), she tiptoed into the dark sky, making sure no
human eye could spot her.
As
she danced in the depths of the beautiful moon, her shadowy outfit seemed to
grow longer. Her gold hair shone in the yellow light.
As
each month passed, she prowled out after staying hidden in a place so dull. For
then was the time for her to bathe in the moonlight and embrace the night sky
she craved for days on end. Her majestic hand ever so gently swept a curtain
identical to the night over part of the moon.
As
sunrise got nearer, with soft tears in her eyes she allowed herself to drift
away back to the place she had stayed so hidden.
For
she was the woman of the moon.
